Domestic Electric Vehicle Charger Installation
Around 68% of UK EV drivers charge at home, making a dedicated domestic EV charging point the most convenient and cost-effective way to power your vehicle. Standard 3-pin plugs are limited to 2.3kW and offer only ~8 miles of range per hour. In contrast, a typical wall-mounted charger delivers 7kW, adding 15–30 miles of range per hour – ideal for overnight charging and everyday use.
Our complete home EV charger installation service includes a remote survey, full supply assessment, and expert installation by NICEIC-approved electricians. We install all major charger brands and ensure your unit is safely connected to your mains, cleanly mounted on an exterior wall or garage, and ready to use. Every installation includes a full demonstration so you’re confident from day one.
Pricing is set per property, based on the available electrical supply, cable route, and the charger you choose. We offer an EV charger survey and quote, with clear advice on what’s sensible for your setup. A small survey fee applies, which is deducted from your final invoice if you proceed with the installation. If you rent your home or own a flat, you may be eligible for up to £500 off the installation through the EV Chargepoint Grant (subject to eligibility). As an OZEV-approved installer, we can support the application and handle the admin where the scheme allows.
Most domestic installations require no planning permission, and all work complies with the latest UK electrical and building regulations.

Tethered or untethered?
Tethered means the cable is permanently attached. You park, grab the handle, plug in. Simpler day to day, but you are committed to that connector type and the cable lives on the wall.
Untethered means a socket on the wall and you use your own cable. Tidier to look at, more flexible if you change cars or run two with different needs, one more thing to fetch from the boot each time. Most single-car households end up happier with tethered. Neither charges any faster.
Charging from your own solar or battery?
If you already have solar panels, a charger that can divert surplus generation into the car is worth having. Instead of exporting what you do not use at a low rate, you put it into the battery you drive around in. Arrays of around 3kW and above make this genuinely worthwhile.
The same units work alongside a home battery, prioritising stored power when generation is low, and they use dynamic load balancing so the combined draw never exceeds your main fuse rating. We install myenergi Zappi, Hypervolt Home 3 and similar units where this matters to you.
We do not install solar panels or battery systems ourselves. What we do is make sure the charger works properly with the system you already have, or one you are planning, and that the electrical side is designed for both together rather than bolted on afterwards.
Awkward installs?
Plenty of properties around here are not a straight run from a meter cupboard to a driveway wall. Detached garages set back from the house. Shared driveways. Long runs crossing a garden or going under a path. Stone walls. Listed buildings and conservation areas where surface cable is a problem. Converted mills with no obvious parking allocation.
These are the jobs worth a proper conversation rather than a quote from a national fitter that assumes a ten-metre run. We survey each one and tell you honestly what is involved, including the times the answer is that it is expensive or not practical.

Commercial Electric Vehicle Charger Installation
Whether you run an office, manage a fleet, or operate customer-facing premises, installing EV chargepoints for businesses offers clear long-term value. Workplace chargers support staff, encourage longer customer visits, and enhance your brand’s sustainability credentials.
We install commercial EV chargers across Stroud, Cheltenham, Gloucester, and the wider region for:
Workplaces & offices
Retail & hospitality
Industrial & fleet operators
Property developers & landlords
futureproof developments with shared EV infrastructure
Our qualified electricians design and install commercial charging setups tailored to your site’s layout, supply capacity, and usage profile. From 7kW and 22kW AC units to advice on DC rapid chargers, we ensure the system is scalable and compliant.
Businesses may be able to claim funding through the Workplace Charging Scheme, offering up to £500 per socket for up to 40 chargepoints (subject to scheme rules and eligibility). We’ll confirm whether you qualify and handle the grant submission process on your behalf.
