Our Company History

Stroud Electrical Services UK Ltd was established in September 2009 by Paul Chater and his wife Caroline Chater. The company was named after Paul’s father’s business, Stroud Mowers, which had a long history in the area. Our mission is to provide professional and reliable electrical services for domestic, commercial, and industrial projects in the Stroud area. We are committed to delivering a first-class service while minimising travel time and costs.

Paul started his career as an apprentice at R Lewis & Co Electrical Engineers in Stroud in 1992. Over the years, he gained extensive experience in a wide range of projects and became an approved electrician. During his time at R Lewis & Co, the company grew to become one of the largest in Stroud.

After leaving R Lewis & Co, Paul went on to site manage larger projects with companies such as Mitie, Lorne Stewart Facilities, and Neptune Building Services. He successfully completed projects such as a new build hospital in Pershore, the refurbishment of Weston-super-Mare Football Club, luxury apartments and public realm at Gloucester Docks, and various industrial units across Gloucestershire.

Over the past decade and a half, Stroud Electrical Services has seen our humble company evolve and flourish. What started as a one-man operation has now grown into a robust team of nine dedicated professionals, each bringing their unique skills and expertise to the table. Our growth, however, is not just limited to the number of our staff members. We have also been fortunate enough to establish a solid partnership with Stroud College. This collaboration has allowed us to implement an extensive apprenticeship scheme, providing our team members with comprehensive training. This ensures that they are not only well-versed in their respective roles but also equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel and provide a professional service.

Our head office, nestled in the picturesque town of Stroud, is strategically located to cater to the needs of not just the residents of Stroud, but also those in the surrounding areas of Gloucestershire. This location allows us to be within reach of our valued clients, ensuring prompt and efficient service.
